The WLFC Difference

What Makes Us Unique?

-We maintain a low ratio of staff to children: just one teacher and two or three infants/ toddlers at a time.

-Owner and Lead Teacher Chelsea Smith has 10 years of experience as an infant/ toddler teacher. She has a Master’s degree from Westfield State in the Psychology field, focusing on infants and toddlers. Chelsea has a Bachelor's from UMass in Psychology, Education, disabilities & Human Services.

-We are located very close to the University of Massachusetts Amherst; virtually abutting the campus.

-We run on a semester by semester basis. This is because many of our clients have families that work at the five colleges/ Universities, and their schedules change every semester. You are more than welcome to stay for one semester, or stay with us up until your child is three! We will just update and change schedules each semester as needed.

-We are located close to downtown Amherst on a safe and private side street with a big, sunny backyard.

-We use organic baby products on our infants, such as organic baby wipes and sunscreen, and wash hands with organic soaps.

Our Infant/ Toddler Class

Our bright and sunny classroom is located in a separate room in Chelsea's family home. The large classroom is safe and full of educational toys and activities for early childhood. We have cozy spots to cuddle up and read or feed babies. We have low toy shelves so babies and toddlers can see the variety of toys, and are able to reach the ones they want to use.

We have soft flooring so the children are safe as they move around the classroom & we have lots of soft seating. We have a state licensed kitchen to hold items such as pumped milk & other items that need to be refrigerated. In our classroom, young children will feel calm, at ease, well taken care of & loved. They will learn and grow through music, art, physical activity, outside time, and play—each and every day!
